Introduction

Microsoft is ending support for the legacy Service Bus Messaging Protocol (SBMP) on 30 September 2026, as part of the retirement of its older Azure Service Bus libraries. SPIR uses Azure Service Bus to communicate between its components.

Versions of Spindle Document Management before v11 use the protocol Microsoft is retiring. Spindle Document Management v11 already uses the supported AMQP 1.0 protocol.

Applies to

You are affected if you are running Spindle Purchase Invoice Recognition with Spindle Document Management Server version 10.5 to 10.13.

Versions earlier than 10.5 will require an upgrade to the latest version (11 or above)

To check your Server version: Find my Spindle Document Management version .

Failure to apply patch or upgrade before the 30th September will result in loss of SPIR functionality:

• documents in the document portal will not change status; and
• documents may fail to post into Sage 200 and archive into Spindle Document Management.

Process

Option 1 — Apply the SPIR Service Bus patch (recommended)

We have released a patch that updates the affected SPIR components to use AMQP 1.0 without a full product upgrade. It is designed to be applied by you, and is run on your Spindle Document Management server.

(recommended to install when Spindle Purchase Invoice Recognition is not in use, downtime up to 5 mins)

• Download patch (attached)
• Applies to:  Spindle Document Management Server Version 10.5 to 10.13
• Time to apply: approximately 5 minutes
• Requires: local administrator rights on the Spindle Document Management server. No configuration changes or user action are needed once applied.

Step-by-step instructions:

1. Download the installer (SpindleDocManagementServer_ServiceBusPatch.msi attached below) onto the server where Spindle Document Management Server Administration is installed
   1. a Ensure you are logged into the server with an account that has Administrator privileges
2. Double-click the downloaded MSI installer to start the installation
3. Click Next
4. Read and accept the License Agreement, then click Next
5. Click Install to begin the installation
6. Once the installation has completed, click Finish (once installed you will see the below entry in programs and features
7. Update post agent to the latest version via Spindle Document Management Server Administration >Recognition > System Information > Check for updates > Update (if status says You are up to date" no update required)
8. Email Support@Draycir.com with the site name you have installed the patch for with screenshot of program and features entry.

The installation is now complete.

Option 2 — Upgrade to Spindle Document Management v11

If below version 10.5 you will need to upgrade to the latest version of Spindle Document Management (V11 upwards). Please contact Draycir Support or your business partner to arrange asap.
