KBA-05-03-014 - Setting a domain user account as Service user

Modified on Mon, 7 Oct, 2019 at 9:48 AM

Problem

When installing Spindle Document Management or Spindle Document Capture to an environment where the SQL server is separate from the Sage application server, you must use a Domain account to run the Spindle Document Capture services. Ideally this user account should be created before installing the software as the installer can only create a local user account.

If you need to change the service user from a local account to a domain account after installation, because of an upgrade, a server move or on advice from Draycir support, please follow the steps below.

Applies to

Spindle Document Capture v1

Spindle Document Management v7

Spindle Document Management v8

Resolution

  • Create a Domain Account for SDC ServiceUser in Active Directory
  • On the server, update the following places with this new user account details :

Services

  1. Services > Spindle Document Capture Mobile > Logon
  2. Services > Spindle Document Capture > Logon

IIS Application Pools

  1. IIS Management Console > Application Pools > SDCAdmin > Advanced Settings > Identity
  2. IIS Management Console > Application Pools > SDCWebApi > Advanced Settings > Identity

File System Permissions

  1. NTFS Permissions of Document Storage location (as configured in Server Administration > System Configuration > Archive Locations)
