KBA-01-03-053 - Error when creating payment button (Oct 2025)

Modified on Tue, 4 Nov at 2:26 PM

Introduction

Original Issue (28/10/25) : A number of users of PayThem v2 within Spindle Document Distribution experienced difficulties using the system caused by a service update applied by Microsoft

As a result, some customers may experience problems when creating payment buttons or document processing will fail with an error message while others the document will complete successfully however will not have a PayThem button.

UPDATE 04/11/25 14:00 - The issue with the primary URL is now resolved. If you have applied the workaround below, please revert the changes as per the section "Reverting the change"

Applies to

Spindle Document Distribution v10.11 and later with PayThem v2

Cause/Background

The root cause was traced to a service update applied by Microsoft, and Draycir has not made any changes or updates that contributed to this issue. We raised a high-priority support ticket with Microsoft Azure, and their engineering team has actively investigated and restored normal service as of the 4/11/25.

Workaround

The Draycir PayThem API Server is operational; however, the current URL in use cannot connect to this API.  To resolve this, an alternative API URL can be explicitly added to the software’s configuration file:

1) On each affected PC, navigate to C:\ProgramData\Draycir\Spindle Document Management\Client\Data

2) Copy the file configuration.xml and keep it as a back up:

3) Open Configuration.xml in a text editor:

4) Inside the <Configuration>...</Configuration> section, add the following XML element:

<PayThemApiUrl>https://draycirpaymentspduk.azure-api.net/pay-them/api/v0</PayThemApiUrl>

5) Save the file

Reverting the change

As of 4/11/25, the original URL is now functioning. While the alternate URL provided as a workaround will continue to work, we recommend reverting to the original URL.

To revert to the standard configuration:

1) Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Draycir\Spindle Document Management\Client\Data

2) Delete/rename the file Configuration.xml

3) Rename the backup copy back to Configuration.xml
