Introduction
As mentioned in KBA-01-03-003, Spindle Professional v6 defaults to generating PDFs using version 1.7 of the PDF standard. This requires Adobe Reader v9.0 or later to be opened. Users running Mac OSX v10.6 or earlier and using Apple’s built-in Preview application are unable to open the PDF.

Printing from Apple Preview
We are aware of an issue where PDFs generated by Spindle Document Distribution may not print text correctly from the Preview app in earlier releases of Mac OS X / macOS.
This has been observed in the following versions of macOS:
- 10.7 Lion
- 10.8 Mountain Lion
- 10.9 Mavericks
- 10.10 Yosemite
- 10.11 El Capitan
- 10.12 Sierra
- 10.13 High Sierra
- 10.14 Mojave
The Preview app in the following releases are not affected.
- 10.15 Catalina
- 11 Big Sur
- 12 Monterey
If you encounter any issues with printing from the Apple Preview app on any of the affected operating systems above, you can use Adobe Reader to print the PDFs without issue.
